Beaches

With 5.2 kilometres of coastline, the beach spans the entire littoral of Playa de Muro, considered one of the best beaches on the island and in the world. Divided into sectors, it combines easily accessible areas with many services (just 200m from the hotel JS Alcudi Mar) and other completely unspoilt stretches reached by walking through Es Comú de Muro or from Ses Casetes des Capellans (the area closest to Can Picafort). Here, you can enjoy incredible beaches with transparent waters and moderate to calm waves, bathed by a blanket of fine golden sand, ideal for all types of travellers.

Natural spots

If there is one natural feature that defines the landscape of Playa de Muro, besides its stunning coastline, it is the S’Albufera Natural Park. Declared a Natural Park in 1988, this Wetland of International Importance spans nearly 1,700 hectares between the municipalities of Muro and Sa Pobla. Classified as a Special Protection Area for birds (SPA) and a Site of Community Importance (SCI), the environment attracts hikers, cyclists, birdwatchers, and nature lovers every year, captivated by its beauty and the chance to observe native flora and fauna. The park is situated right behind JS Alcudi Mar, although the main entrance is located 1.5 km away.

Leisure and sport

Playa de Muro offers a wide variety of cycling routes that run both along the coast and through the island’s interior. Cycling enthusiasts staying at JS Alcudi Mar can enjoy a comprehensive cycling centre within the hotel itself, featuring facilities for bicycle storage and repairs. Consequently, Playa de Muro is one of the main areas in Mallorca focused on cycle tourism, and its beaches are perfect for all types of nautical activities: sailing, scuba diving, paddle surfing, kite surfing… Close to Playa de Muro, you will also find some of the best golf courses in Mallorca, with the nearest being Alcanada Golf (10 km) and Pollensa Golf (13 km). For a different kind of family day out, there are several theme parks on the island, such as Hidropark in Alcudia (4 km) and Marineland Mallorca, Western Park, and Aqualand Mallorca, all less than an hour’s drive away.

Heritage and culture

Discover the rich cultural heritage of Muro, a town of 6,750 inhabitants living across 55.4 km2. Its most beautiful itinerary includes the parish church of Sant Joan, the Casa de la Vila, El Comtat, Can Alomar (Ethnological Museum), the Oratorio de la Sang, the Church of Santa Aina, and the wonderful Minims Cloister. We also invite you to discover the weekly markets in Muro, where you will find a wide variety of local products and traditional souvenirs, such as the Muro weekly market (Sundays, 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM) or the Playa de Muro market (daily, 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM from May to October, on Avinguda del Mar).
