Gran Beach is a long beach with fine white sand and moderate to calm waves that connects the town of Can Picafort with Alcudia through the S’Albufera Natural Park. With all the necessary facilities, it is accessible for disabled people along a section bordering the promenade, and it has been certified with a Blue Flag. Nearby you will find the attractive semi-urban beach of Son Bauló, which also bears a Blue Flag, and the beach of Son Serra de Marina, located between the pristine beaches of Sa Canova and Son Real.
Near our hotels in Can Picafort are 2 natural parks: the S’Albufera Natural Park, a wetland covering around 1,700 hectares (the largest in the Balearic Islands) declared a Special Protection Area for Birds and a Site of Community Importance; and the 395-hectare Son Real Estate, where you can find breathtaking dune areas and Pine and juniper forests, ancient sand quarries, beacons and various routes to explore by bike, on foot or horseback.
From here, you can access the Son Real Necropolis, located at the foot of the sea, with tombs shaped like navetas and talayots. Also noteworthy is the Talayot de Sa Nineta, at the junction of the Alcudia-Artá road, a very well-preserved talayotic site dating back to approximately 1300 BC.
A short drive away are the Llevant de Artá Park (20 km) and the Tramuntana Mountain Rage (30 km), perfect for enjoying a nature excursion.
Can Picafort has a sports marina just a few metres away from JS Miramar hotel, and it is ideal for practicising water sports, such as windsurfing, paddle surfing, snorkelling or scuba diving.

If you like go-karts, at Karting Can Picafort, located in the Can Picafort industrial area, very close to our hotels, you will find a 1600-metre-long track where you can test your driving skills, whether you are an amateur or a professional.
The area around Can Picafort and the municipality of Santa Margalida have the highest concentration of archeological sites on the island, with the most important being the Son Real Necropolis. Throughout the municipality, you will find numerous estates (constructions turned into rural settlements where agricultural and livestock activities were concentrated) and stately homes that give us an insight into how society used to be structured. A distictive feature of Can Picafort, and a symbol of the town, are the beacon towers, built in the 1940s so that submarines conducting military exercises could calculate their position. Three of them are still standing in the town and are still relatively well preserved.
Market days in Can Picafort are Friday mornings. The main festivities in the town take place during the first fortnight of August (la Mare de Déu d’Agost festivities), culminating on 15th August with the traditional duck release and a spectacular musical show and fireworks display. In addition, in the same municipality, in the town of Santa Margalida, the traditional procession of La Beata is held on the first Sunday of September.
