After a relaxed day in one of our Spas (SPA WEBSITE LINK) it is time to discover this almost half-kilometre stretch which is the continuation of Platja de Can Picafort (Santa Margalida) beach and the start of Platja de Muro beach – Es Comú. Es Capellans makes a natural border between both areas and is found next to the s’Albufera Natural Park.
Like the rest of the beaches of the Muro area, its waters are transparent and the waves are moderate to calm, with fine, golden sand ideal for all types of user. It has abundant plantlife with pine trees and shrubs. It must be clarified that Platja de Muro generically refers to the 5.2 kilometres of coast which forms part of the municipality of the same name, and is divided into three sectors.
Platja de Muro - Sector I
Three kilometres from the centre of Port d’Alcúdia, and 15km from the centre of Muro, between the breakwater of s’Oberta of the s’Albufera Natural Park and the hypothetical border with Platja d’Alcúdia, of which it is an extension. Carpeted by very fine sand, parents and tourists visiting Playa de Muro will be reassured by the shallow water. Its waters are clear, with moderate to calm waves, and the sand is fine and golden, and ideal for all types of user.
Access by motorway is easy, following road signs. Vehicles can be parked for free between the streets leading to Playa de Muro. It can also be accessed by bus, with a stop just metres away.
Platja de Muro - Sector II
Six kilometres from the centre of Port d’Alcúdia and 12 kilometres from Muro. Its extension reaches from the s’Oberta canal, next to Pont dels Anglesos, to the beach called Platja de Muro – Es Comú, forming a hypothetical border.
It is found next to the marshes of the s´Albufera Natural Park, with an extension of 1,708 hectares, making it the largest wetland of the archipelago. It was declared a natural park in 1988 for its ecological wealth and great biodiversity. Es Braç is a kilometre stretch, quiet and with very fine sand, which until the 1980s was a continuation of the es Comú, pine forests, when it was converted into a residential and tourist area, with the presence of large buildings behind its dune system.
Platja de Muro - Es Comú
One kilometre from Can Picafort and 10.5 from Muro, located between Casetes des Capellans, where this huge beach and the Muro municipality begin, and Platja des Braç, in which the tourist area is concentrated. Access is difficult, both on foot and by vehicle, as the pine forest area is closed to road traffic, except on both ends where there are streets.
