What to do in Can Pastilla? Activities and sports in the south of Mallorca
What can you find in Can Pastilla?
Can Pastilla, and especially Playa de Palma, are ideal places for sports enthusiasts. Due to its fantastic summer climate, Can Pastilla offers a wide variety of sports such as cycling (CYCLING CENTRE LINK), scuba diving, golf, Nordic walking and even horse riding, as well as calmer sports such as sailing, Playa de Palma being one of the places where the Copa del Rey and Trofeo Princesa Sofía competitions are held.
Can Pastilla and Playa de Palma offer two Yacht Clubs. The Club de Can Pastilla is located in Bahía de Palma, a few kilometres from the city centre and the airport. With several sport services and moorings, as well as the official offices for 470 class sailing and windsurfing, and famous boat races such as the Trofeo Princesa Sofía, make Can Pastilla one of the foremost yacht clubs in the area.
Here we also find S’Arenal, in the middle of Bahía de Palma, with all kinds of services in its vicinity, but which is difficult to access due to its third quadrant winds. It is one of the few ports of Palma de Mallorca which is protected from north and north easterly winds, having a good shipyard and dry marina where boats can be left in winter.
With the perfect climate and winds for practicing this enjoyable sport, Can Pastilla and Playa de Palma are paradises for its enthusiasts. The area has large first class courses which allow a peaceful, calm game near the sea, with unbeatable views and beautiful sunsets with the highest quality standards. The island has 20 courses which hold important tournaments such as the Mallorca Classic.
Do you want to walk and discover the area from a different and special perspective? Nordic Walking is a type of hiking which is gaining popularity by being one of the most beneficial for health. It is a sport in which two poles are used, moving all muscles of the body, and is ideal for the mild climate of Palma, which is the perfect setting with beautiful landscapes and natural spaces to discover on different routes such as the Ruta de Pedra en sec and the Ruta Artà – Lluc.
In JS Palma Stay we are cycling specialists, making a great cycling centre available to you in the perfect environment. Can Pastilla and Playa de Palma are appreciated by professional cyclists worldwide, many using it as a preparation for the season, and attracting 40,000 cyclists to the island each year, as it is a point of reference.
They come especially in spring, when the country roads of Llucmajor and the Eastern area of Palma are crossed by a multitude of European cyclists who enjoy cycling in the rural environment. JS Hotel Palma Stay is also prepared for cycling professionals and enthusiasts in Mallorca, who can carry out different group activities, among which we highlight the different cycling routes that we prepare for you, including recreational routes and more difficult routes.
Located in Bahía de Palma, the location of JS Palma Stay, Can Pastilla was one of the first resorts of the island, today retaining a special charm and unique history. It was one of the first areas to welcome foreign tourists. The neighbourhood of the current town of Can Pastilla began to form between 1920 and 1925. Bartomeu Riutort convinced the Ripoll brothers, owners of the Sa Torre Rodona estate, to assign a plot of land to the Catholic Church for the construction of a church.
Playa de Palma, one of the best areas of Mallorca
Without a doubt, Playa de Palma is one of the areas most visited by tourists, who come mainly in the months of July and August. This is not a coincidence, as Playa de Palma is one of the best areas of the whole island of Mallorca, just 4km from the centre of Palma and 2km from the airport, between the areas of S’Arenal and Can Pastilla, where everyone seeks and finds the sun, relaxation and fun.
