Muro Beach - Casetas des Capellans
Es Capellans, Caseta or Casetes des Capellans is situated at two kilometres from the centre of Can Picafort
and at 10,2 kilometres from Muro. The name comes from the fact that this piece of coast used to be the centre of small holiday houses for the summer, some of them used by priests (English translation for “capellans”) of the parish of Muro. Nowadays it is a small particular village with small houses and sandy streets.
This very long sandy area is the prolongation of Platja de Can Picafort
(Santa Margalida) and the beginning of Platja de Muro
– es Comú. Es Capellans is the natural border between both municipalities and is located next to the Parc (“reserve”) Natural de s´Albufera.
Like the rest of the beaches in the municipality of Muro, the water is transparent and the swell is moderate or quiet, the sand is fine-grained and golden, ideal for all types of visitors. It has a thick vegetation of bushes and pine wood.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs that tale until Casetes des Capellans, where you can park your private car for free. You can also chose the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located at about a hundred metres from this sandy area.
The nearest port facilities are located at Club Esportiu de Can Picafort
, at half a nautical mile. These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors, mostly families, and tourists.
Muro Beach - Es Comú Platja de Muro
– es Comú is situated at one kilometre from Can Picafort
and at 10,5 kilometres from Muro, between Casetes des Capellans, where this extensive beach begins, and the municipality of Muro, and Platja des Braç, where most of the touristic activity is.
This very long sandy area is one of the most beautiful, unspoilt and virgin beaches of the bay of Alcúdia
, belonging to the municipality. It is charaterized by the fine-grained clear sand, populated by juniper woods, very rare in the Balearic Islands, and pines that fix a system of dunes unique in this archipelago, which continues for hundreds of metres toward the interior until it reaches the road and where there are still a lot of trails to access this beach.
The area called es Comú de Muro is Àrea Natural d´Especial Interès within the Parc (“reserve”) Natural de s´Albufera, with a recreational area in the interior.
The water is transparent, the swell is moderate or quiet, and the fine-grained golden sand is ideal for all types of visitors.
The accessibility by car is difficult on foot or by car, because the area of the pine wood is closed for the traffic, except at both ends where there are streets. In the surroundings there is the wetland of Parc Natural de s´Albufera, where you can see different types of birds and other animal species.
You can also reach this beach by bus. The nearest bus stop is located at about a hundred metres from this sandy area.

– es Comú is not very crowded, the visitors are normally local families
Muro Beach -Sector I Platja de Muro
– Sector 1 is situated at three kilometres from the centre of Port d´Alcúdia
, and at 15 kilometres from the centre of Muro, between the breakwater of s´Oberta del Parc (“reserve”) Natural de s´Albufera, (which can be visited for free) and the natural border toward Platja d´Alcúdia, which is the prolongation of it. We have to say that the general name Platja de Muro is used for the 5,2 kilometres of coastline which belong to the municipality with the same name. This quiet beach with fine-grained sand and which is not very deep for the relief of the parents and the tourist who crowd this place. You have to walk quite a lot before the water gets deeper. At the rear you will find the system of dunes and the different trails, with some pine trees and juniper woods, as well as the development of villages and hotels, a quality tourism with good hotels, most of the visitors are families.
The extensive sandy grounds, the very gentle slope the presence of sandbanks and the fact that it is open to the winds of the first quadrant explain that running aground is possible. This is why the navigator should stay away from the coast. The water is transparent, the swell is moderate or quiet, the sand is fine-grained and golden, ideal for all types of visitors.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left for free in the streets that take to this beach. The nearest bus stop is located at about a hundred metres from this beach if you chose the public transport.
Muro Beach -Sector II
Platja (“beach”) de Muro – Sector II is situated at six kilometres from the centre of Alcúdia
and 12 kilometres from Muro. It begins at the channel of s´Oberta, next to Pont dels Anglesos (“Bridge of the English”), until a beach called Platja de Muro – es Comú, with which it has an imaginary border. On this beach, together with Platja de Muro – Sector I, you will find quality hotels and tourism, mostly families. It is located next to the wetland of the Parc (“reserve”) Natural de s´Albufera, with an extension of 1708 hectares, which is the biggest wetland of the archipelago. In 1988 it was declared natural reserve by the Parlament de les Illes Balears because of the ecological richness and the vast biodiversity.
Since 1986 it belongs to the Zonas de Especial Protección para las Aves of the European Community, and since 1989 to the Convención sobre Humedales de Importancia Internacional. It can be visited, the entrance is free.
Es Braç is a very long sandy area, very quiet and fine-grained, which until the eighties of the 20th century was a prolongation of the pine wood of es Comú, when the residential and touristic activity began, with the presence of huge buildings behind the system of dunes.
The accessibility by car is easy on foot or with the private car, there are parking areas in the surroundings. You can also take the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located at about a hundred metres from this sandy area. like the rest of the beaches in this municipality, the water is transparent, the swell is moderate or quiet and the fine-grained golden sand is ideal for all types of visitors.
